Alberta Netcare Portal Release - November 28, 2019
Alberta Netcare Portal (ANP) continues to make updates in response to the Connect Care Wave 1 implementation. Today’s updates include:
- Orders that have not been resulted will display in Italics on the CDV Tree
- Cancelled Genetic report will display the cancelled report rather than an error
- Appropriate user roles will see the Patient Lists options
- Interpreting Doctor/Report Author field will display the doctor's name
- Documents, EEGs and Lumens with multiple attending providers will start displaying in Netcare
Additional information displaying in Netcare: As part of the launch of Connect Care, Netcare is receiving additional encounters and documents in the patient’s Event History and CDV tree. We understand this is confusing and is cluttering multiple views in the system. Please know our team is working with Connect Care to assess the most valuable clinical information for Netcare users. Solutions are being investigated to stop the flow of this information and to remove events that do not provide valuable clinical data to our users. Patient safety is our number one priority and we are working to ensure our users can easily access relevant patient information.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition period.

The PARIS team has identified potential issues with the content of Continuing Care Summaries (including Community Client Profiles) from Calgary which are filed under the “Summary Reports” folder. At this time, neither the extent of the issues nor the reports affected are known so a decision has been made, in consultation with key stakeholders, to hide all reports from view. At this time there is no remediation date available.

-
Clarification Regarding Diagnostic Imaging Reports Label Change: March 8, 2017

- Having trouble logging on to Alberta Netcare Portal? - Workaround for "out of licenses" error message
- Some community users are experiencing issues logging onto Alberta Netcare Portal, and have been receiving error messages which indicate that there are not enough licenses. These service interruptions are being caused by an old and overloaded server which will be decommissioned in 2013. To address these service interruptions, we are in the process of moving all users over to a new URL (which uses a Citrix server). We have been working with the Alberta EMR vendors that have a connection to Alberta Netcare, to update their software to use the new URL.In the meantime, there is a workaround for users who are able to install a Citrix receiver application on their desktop. By accessing Alberta Netcare through Citrix, you will no longer receive "out of licenses" errors. For instructions on how to access Alberta Netcare Portal using Citrix, please Click here. To use the workaround, you will have to install a Citrix receiver. This installation may require the services of your clinic's desktop support team. Once the Citrix application is successfully installed, you will use a browser to login (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), instead of connecting directly from your EMR. This means that you will need to search for the patient records you want to see, but it also means you will have no trouble logging in when you need to.On behalf of Alberta Netcare, we sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, and apologize for the frustration that these issues have caused you.

- Laboratory Data Corruption Issue
- A data processing error occurred on January 20th, 2009 which caused some laboratory test results that were available for viewing through Netcare between 0900 January 20th and 1700 January 21st to display incorrectly in the Netcare Capital Health Acute Flowsheets, Capital Health Clinician Flowsheets, and Laboratory Results Viewer.
The display of laboratory information has since been corrected and Netcare is back in full operation.
All attempts are being made to directly contact all individuals who accessed the affected records. However in the interim, these users will also receive Netcare email about this situation.
In addition, we also ask anyone who viewed laboratory results in Netcare during the period of 0900 January 20th and 1700 January 21st to review the results. It is important that you identify if, and how, these results were used in the provision of care and take follow-up action as appropriate.
In addition, please replace all laboratory information printed from the Netcare application if printed during 0900 on January 20th to 1700 on January 21st, 2009.
Systems outside of Capital Health are not affected and other Capital Health information systems displaying laboratory test results were not affected, ie. Tandem, VAX, POSP, e-Clinician. Hard copy reports provided by laboratories are accurate.
For questions about specific laboratory results, please contact the Capital Health Regional Laboratory Client Response Department at (780) 407-7484 or at 1-866-407-7767.

- Masked Results
- In the interest of patient safety and quality of care, results pertaining to notifiable diseases will no longer be masked in netCARE. As always, clinical information in netCARE (including notifiable disease results) is available on a “need to know” basis ? caregivers should only access the information necessary to provide patient care. And as always, all access to netCARE is auditable. The Security department conducts monthly reviews of access to ensure that patient confidentiality remains paramount and that Health Information Act guidelines are being followed.

- New EMPI
- Between January 19 and January 23/06, Capital Health will be moving to a new version of its EMPI (Enterprise Master Patient Index) search tool.
With this upgrade all Albertans will now be included in the EMPI, so users should be able to find all patients who have an Alberta ULI/PHN (Unique Lifetime Identifier/Personal Health Number). To accommodate this new information in the EMPI, work has been done to ensure that any “favorites” lists (i.e. “Recently Viewed Patients”) created using the old version of the EMPI have been validated to be correct in the new version. Please report any discrepancies to the Information Centre (735-4357).
- Lab Results Change
- Effective January 23, 2006, the following lab results, previously found in the Chemistry folder, are being re-directed to the Coagulation folder:

- September 2005
- CoPath Reports
- Effective Tuesday October 4, 2005, CoPath reports are available for viewing on netCARE, following extensive testing for data quality and correctness. (Background: On August 30, 2005, a new Pathology system [CoPath] was implemented, but the reports from this system were suppressed in netCARE until testing and signoff was completed.)
- Clinical and Acute Care Flowsheets
- Effective September 09, 2005, each printed page of Clinician and Acute Care Flowsheets will contain clear patient identification in the page-header section. Click here for an example.
- Pathology System
- Effective Tuesday morning, August 30, 2005, a new Pathology system (CoPath) will go live in the Capital Health Region. Rigorous testing and data validation is underway in order to ensure the correctness and quality of the display of this Pathology data in netCARE. Until this testing is complete, all new Pathology reports from the CoPath system will be suppressed in netCARE. While CoPath reports will be unavailable in netCARE for a period of time, the current practice of hard copy report distribution will continue and users may continue to call the UAH Client Response line.

Here is a sample of what the new page header will will look like:

- Display of PHN on Flowsheets
- The PHN is now displaying correctly and consistently on the Clinician Flowsheet and Acute Care Flowsheet. Previously, in some cases, the PHN was being truncated.
- Number of Flowsheet Columns
- In order to correctly display lab data, the default number of columns for flowsheets has been changed from 14 to 12. Previously, in some instances, results were being truncated.
- Patient Information on Printed Reports
