Why Create an EHR?
A Unified Health System
Providing good health care requires a unified effort supported by many different individuals and facilities, each playing a role in keeping Albertans healthy. As patients interact with different health care providers at facilities throughout the health system, the EHR collects records of those interactions. This key health information is then made available to others who will be providing those patients with health services. The result is a shared understanding of patients’ health.
The EHR provides a consolidated view of essential health information where and when health professionals need it.
